I can’t understand why the ACC didn’t show any interest in getting WV into the conference when they had the chance. Having a rivalry like the Backyard Brawl is exactly the type of thing the conference needs. WV in the Big 12 just makes no sense at all.
in response to wlduke418: Pretty sure Deshaun is enrolling early, isn't he? So he would be signing up in December instead of February?

He plans to enroll in school in December but he can’t sign his LOI until February per NCAA rules. However, if he enrolls and attends class at Clemson it’s a virtual lock he will sign his LOI to Clemson because from my understanding he would have to sit out a year if he later enrolls at another school.
Other than the Orange & Peach Bowls these are some pretty lame bowl destinations. Clemson should've left the ACC when it had the chance. With the new TV rights deal and the $50 mil exit fee it looks like we're stuck for good.
I would like to see an arrangement where the five teams that play ND would only play seven ACC games that year and have the ND game count as a conference game in the standings. This would allow schools like Clemson to continue scheduling schools like UGA, Auburn, etc.
Don’t quite understand how the ND arrangement is going to strengthen our schedule. We’ve always played one quality non-conference opponent in addition to USC, i.e. UGA, Auburn, TCU, Texas A&M and Bama. It sounds like ND will just replace these matchups. Two of the previously mentioned teams won the national title the year we played them. How is ND an upgrade?
It seems like Clemson has been recruiting a lot of “wheelbarrow” players like Davis and Battle at OL for quite some time now. Why are they not recognizing these character traits earlier? Perhaps there needs to be a change in their recruiting process.
in response to radtiger: Thats a smart man and probably the best decision he can make if he want to go pro......Compare the number of players that goes pro from the ACC to the other conferences. You people can talk about academics all day long but in all actuality....regardless of what school, they are all there on an athletic scholarship....NOT ACADEMIC, so for you to think that any of these players are any smarter than the other is pathetic......I can assure you that none of Clemson football players will graduate with a degree in Chemistry,Engineering or any other program that requires alot of knowledge.

Ummm, there are 10 engineering majors on Clemson's current roster including Tyler Shatley our starting RG. Stephone Anthony's major is Economics and Giff Timothy's Biological Sciences, two of Clemson's strongest academic areas. In 2011 the ACC was second among college conferences with 278 players in the NFL. The SEC was first with 308. That's not a big difference in my opinion.
With our OL the kid needs to put some meat on him if he expects to make it at Clemson. He wouldn't last long taking the beatings the way Boyd did against FSU, SC and LSU last year.
Our chances of getting to the national title game are as good as anybody's. But if we make it we'll likely face Bama and I don't see us (or anybody else) beating them. What I can't understand is why everybody's so high on SC. Yes, they've had 4 great years and they have Clowney back. But how many teams lose NINE key contributors on defense, their best WR, two best RBs, starting TE, best O lineman and starting K and have a better record the next year? I dont see them going 11-2 again next year and even if they do they won't get a title shot.
Our schedule is mediocre at best. And SC will not be a top-ten team by time we play them in November.
That Woulard kid looks pretty good and would be great in our offense. Reminds me a little bit of Charlie Ward. Hope we can sign him. Go Tigers!
Dabo is lying to himself. Clemson is soft and has been since Bowden arrived in 1999. Its a product of running the spread offense. The spread is the pyramid scheme of college football and Dabo has been taken in hook line and sinker. Like any scam the sooner you realize it and walk away the better. Its time to ditch the spread and get back to Clemson football.
Clemson will score an early touchdown and a field goal in the first quarter but will slow down and sputter out in the second. By contrast LSU will start off slow in the first quarter and get a FG but score two touchdowns late in the second to take a deceptively close score of 17-10 into the halftime locker room. Just like the SC game things will get ugly for Clemson in the second half as LSU will run over their weak defense and score early and often. LSU will not punt in the second half and Chad Morris will abandon the run early in the 3rd quarter. Clemson will get a TD late in the fourth to make the final score appear somewhat more respectable than the game actually was. Final score LSU 44 Clemson 17.
Why has Dabo waited until now to decide to grow a pair?
As if our team wasn't already soft enough as it is now they have a cozy new indoor practice facility to keep their candyrears out the cold weather. Yep, just what they needed.
The Bill’s need to trade Spiller. Chan Gailey never seemed to want him and I never really understood why they drafted him from the beginning. A speed back with a history of hamstring & foot problems in college was never a good match for Buffalo’s cold weather, artificial turf and style of play. Spiller would have fit in better with one of the Florida or California teams like the Raiders or Bucs. Perhaps the Panthers would be a good fit as well.
The ACC should scrap the division format all together and go back to a rotating schedule among all the teams. The two teams with the best conference records at the end of the season would play each other in the title game. Of course all 13 teams couldn’t play each other every year so a fair tiebreaking system would be needed, but that shouldn’t be a problem. Another idea would be to schedule one less ACC game for the teams with ND on their schedule and have that game count as a conference game in the standings. In other words teams that play ND would have only 7 conference games and the teams that don’t would have 8.
Enough with the apologies Dabo. The only thing I want to hear coming out of your mouth is, "My team will beat SC in 2013 or I will no longer be the head football coach of Clemson University".
Enough apologies coach. And no more pie in the sky promises. What you should say is, "I will beat SC next year or I will no longer be the head football coach at Clemson University".
