Why be excited: Blanks is a strong all-around athlete who could play at wide receiver, safety or cornerback, but will play in Clemson's secondary. A smart player with good character, he has long arms, is very aggressive with great speed and good body control. He has an excellent nose for the ball and is known as a ballhawk, which could help him fit in at safety or cornerback.
You may not know: Some scouts compare him to another Tallahassee, Fla., product - former Florida State cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who has enjoyed an excellent NFL career with the San Diego Chargers and New York Jets.
How he fits into the depth chart: Clemson has plenty of young defensive backs, but Blanks is an elite talent. He has already enrolled and will go through spring practice, giving himself a chance to pick up Brent Venables' system alongside veterans. If he impresses in spring, he could easily play this fall.
