Why be excited: The Clemson coaching staff is committed to keeping a steady flow of talent in its offensive line pipeline, and Norton fits the bill in all areas - he's big, he's quick, he's smart, and he's been on the Tigers' recruiting radar forever. Recruited as a backup, and eventual successor, for Dalton Freeman at center, he's a tough, physical run-blocker who consistently graded over 90 percent on his blocking assignments throughout his high school career.
You may not know: Norton will conclude his prep career throwing discus and shot for Mauldin's track team this winter and spring.
Where he fits into the depth chart: With Dalton Freeman back as the Tigers' starting center and Mason Cloy available as a fill-a-gap option behind him, the Tigers should be able to redshirt Norton next season and then work him as a backup to Freeman in 2012.
