Why be excited: Clemson keeps scouting some of the state's most prolific offensive playmakers and seeing all-star potential on the defensive side of the ball. In Williams' recruiting, his biggest decision came between Clemson's offer as a defensive back and possible opportunities to play quarterback at Georgia Tech or Florida. Williams eventually chose Clemson, and when he arrives he'll add to the mix as a player the Tiger coaching staff could use almost anywhere. He was an offensive machine as a senior at Silver Bluff, with more than 3,000 yards and 37 touchdowns.
You may not know: Williams was the first Shrine Bowl selection in Fox Creek High's football history, but was unable to play in the game because of a neck injury.
How he fits into the depth chart: Williams will get a chance to show that he can help the Tigers next season, both in the secondary and on special teams; but his development as a full-time defensive player would likely be advanced by a redshirt year.
