Why be excited: A tremendously athletic player who played linebacker at Carver High School in Columbus, Ga., but projects as a defensive end in college. Capable of blitzing and rushing the quarterback but also covering receivers. A nice addition to defensive line depth.
You may not know: Like fellow signee Martavis Bryant, Crawford signed with Clemson in 2010 but didn't qualify academically. He spent last fall with Bryant at Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy.
How he fits into the depth chart: With Da'Quan Bowers gone to the NFL draft, Crawford could see early playing time behind Andre Branch and Mallicah Goodman at defensive end.
