Jefferie Gibson

Why be excited: He was a dynamic performer on both sides of the ball at Grays Creek, and was recruited by N.C. State – to whom he was first committed – as a wide receiver. Gibson, who is also a threat as as a kickoff and punt returner, joined in the celebration following Clemson's season-opening victory over No. 5 Georgia with an on-the-spot commitment.

You may not know: Gibson is one of three Clemson signees in the past two recruiting cycles that was originally committed to N.C. State, following in the footsteps of wide receiver Kyrin Priester and defensive back Marcus Edmond.

How he fits into the depth chart: He continues an ongoing trend of Clemson recruiting tall, rangy safeties, and will work in a young mix that includes Jayron Kearse, Korrin Wiggins, Jadar Johnson and others.
