Ryan Carter

Why be excited: If anything, Carter comes in with a bit of chip on his shoulder after his recruitment received some negative attention this summer. When No. 1-rated prospect Robert Nkemdiche was still on board with the Tigers, he lobbied for his friend to get an offer as well via the media. That wasn't received well nationally, with two Grayson (Ga.) prospects already on board in Clemson. Well after Nkemdiche decommitted, Clemson hosted Carter for an official visit and after his senior season, Scout has him the highest-rated at No. 168 in the nation.

You may not know: Barring something out of the blue with Nkemdiche, Carter will make up the third Grayson (Ga.) alum on the Tigers, joining fellow 2013 signee Wayne Gallman (RB) and walk-on quarterback Nick Schuessler.

How he fits into the depth chart: Carter will likely redshirt and has plenty of competition for playing time come 2014.
