Why be excited: Alexander isn't afraid of contact - he's a physical, hard-hitting cornerback. The Immokalee (Fla.) product is comfortable in man coverage with speed and good awareness when the ball is in the air. Part of that strength comes from being a strong kick returner. He is a Rivals' top-50 player (No. 43), who had an impressive list of offers to go with that status (Alabama, FSU, Georgia among others).
You may not know: Mackensie's twin brother Mackenro is also a defensive back, with offers from Florida State, Mississippi State, West Virginia among others.
How he fits into the depth chart: With Cortez Davis' exit, competing for a spot in the rotation is a little easier in year one, and after the struggles in the secondary last season, Alexander will have his shot in fall camp to avoid the redshirt.
