They meet again.
Conference rivals Clemson and Duke often have much to say - sometimes to each other - about who rules the ACC in women's tennis.
Thursday night they'll take their rivalry to the national stage when they clash in the sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament at Dan McGill Tennis Center in Athens, Ga.
The 13th-ranked Tigers knocked off the fourth-ranked Blue Devils 4-3 back in April, when Duke carried a No. 1 national ranking into the final week of the season. The Blue Devils returned the favor in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament by blanking the higher-seeded Tigers 4-0.
The match is set to begin Thursday at 7 p.m., though the schedule is likely to be affected by rain.
The Tigers advanced after winning home NCAA matches over UNCW (4-0) and Auburn (5-0) this past weekend.
This will be Clemson’s 12th NCAA match in Athens all-time, which includes runs to the National Semifinals in 2004 and 2005.
The Tigers and Blue Devils have met just once in NCAA history, a 5-0 Duke win in the Round of 16 in 1993 in Gainesville, Fla.
