Parade All-American Gabe DeVoe scores 18 in Carolinas All-Star Classic

Clemson-bound guard helped North Carolina to 102-90 victory over South Carolina

Clemson-bound Parade All-American Gabe DeVoe of Shelby, N.C. scored 18 points to help lead North Carolina to a 102-90 victory over South Carolina in the Carolinas All-Star Classic, which was played Saturday at Socastee High in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

DeVoe was 6-of-11 from the field, 2-of-6 on three-pointers and 4-of-5 from the free throw line for the winning Tarheels. He also had two assists and four steals.

North Carolina broke a 33-33 tie with a 19-11 run to end the first half, and then held off a rally that brought the Sandlappers within four at one points. They pulled away again at the end for their 12-point victory.

North Carolina's Gary Clark, a Cincinnati signee, was named MVP after a 21-point performance. Ricky Council added 21 for North Carolina, while Kendrick Flomo had 20.

Dantez Bennaman led South Carolina with 17 points, while Quintin Stroman had 15 rebounds, nine assists and five blocks.
