Clemson-bound Gabe DeVoe named to Parade All-America Team

Shelby, N.C. star is one of five Parade All-Americans headed to the ACC

Clemson men's basketball signee Gabe DeVoe has been named to the 2014 Parade All-America boys basketball team.

The lone player selected from the North Carolina-South Carolina-Georgia area, DeVoe averaged 34 points a game as a senior for Shelby, N.C. High. He is the top player to come out his area since his cousin, N.C. State star David Thompson, three decades ago.

DeVoe is one of five ACC-bound players on the team, joining Duke signees Jahlil Okafor, a 6-11 center from Chicago, and Justise Winslow, a 6-6 forward from Houston, Texas; and North Carolina signees Joel Berry, a 6-0 guard from Orlando, Fla., and Justin Jackson, a 6-8 forward from Spring, Texas.

North Carolina and Duke were among four schools with two Parade All-Americans. Cliff Alexander, a 6-9 forward from Chicago, and Kelly Oubre, a 6-7 guard from Henderson, Nevada will play at Kansas, while Karl Towns, a 7-1 center from Metuchen, N.J., and Trey Lyles, a 6-9 forward from Indianapolis, will attend Kentucky.

Five members of the Parade All-America girls team are headed to ACC schools: 6-4 Azura Stevens of Cary, N.C. and 6-0 Sierra Calhoun of Middle Village, N.Y. to Duke; guard Jamie Cherry of West Craven, N.C. to North Carolina; guard Amber Campbell of Charleston, S.C. to Wake Forest; and 6-3 Brianna Turner of Manvel, Texas to Notre Dame.
