Corey Crawford named to 3rd team; Cole Stoudt, Isaiah Battle, Charone Peake, Ryan Norton on 4th-team offense

Clemson makes up better than a fourth of Athlon's All-ACC first-team defense, which was announced recently by the publication.

Defensive end Vic Beasley, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and middle linebacker Stephone Anthony were named to the first-team preseason squad.

They're joined by four players from Florida State - defensive end Mario Edwards, linebacker Terrence Smith and defensive backs P.J. Williams and Jalen Ramsey.

Virginia Tech had two first-team defensive selections - cornerback Kendall Fuller and defensive tackle Luther Maddy.

Rounding out the team are Miami linebacker Denzel Perryman and Virginia safety Anthony Harris.

Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jameis Winston led the first-team offensive selections, and his joined by teammates Karlos Williams (fullback), Rashad Green (wide receiver), Nick O'Leary (tight end), and offensive linemen Cameron Erving, Bobby Hart and Tre' Jackson.

Other first-team offensive picks included running back Duke Johnson of Miami, wide receiver Tyler Boyd of Pittsburgh, and offensive linemen Andy Gallik of Boston College and Laken Tomlinson of Duke.

Clemson had no players on the second team, while defensive end Corey Crawford was named to the third team.

Four offensive Tigers - quarterback Cole Stoudt, wide receiver Charone Peake, and offensive linemen Ryan Norton and Isaiah Battle were named to the fourth team.

Seems as though we have far too many fourth teamer's than second or first. By years end, I bet we overload the first team all ACC team. Both offensively and defensively. The defense should really load up the all ACC first team.

There are four players not on this list who will likely be on the one at the end of the season: CJ Davidson & Jordan Leggett on offense and Mackensie Alexander & Tony Steward on defense. All have had injuries set them back but are healthy now. If they stay that way they will have huge seasons for the tigers.
