CLEMSON, SC - Clemson averaged 82,048 fans per game during the 2013 football season, a record for the program that has called Memorial Stadium home since 1942. The NCAA recently released official attendance statistics for the 2013 season.

The 82,048 average broke the previous Clemson record of 81,750 set in 1988. Dabo Swinney’s Tigers drew 574,333 fans for the seven home games, the second highest total attendance in school history. In 1987, the only year Clemson has played eight home games, the Tigers drew 602,526.

On a national basis, Clemson’s 82,048 per home game figure was 15th best in the nation and best in the ACC. Florida State was second among ACC teams with a home attendance average of 75,421. The 2013 season marked the 33rd consecutive year Clemson has finished in the top 20 nationally in average home attendance.

As far as total attendance for all 13 games, 932,224 fans attended Clemson games this past season, 19th best in the nation. It was the 15th highest total among schools that played 13 games or less.

The 932,224 fans who attended Clemson’s 13 games this year ranked as the second most in school history. The only total that is higher was the 997,786 fans who watched the Tigers play in 2011, a season Clemson played 14 games.

I sure didn't realize we had ranked in the top 20 in attendance for 33 straight years. There we some years in there that were fairly bad, too. If we had SC at home in 2015 wit ND coming to town we could break all kinds of records. Of course, we do have FSU and ND so that's just as good. I gurantee you the ND game may draw more fans than ever before. After the '77 debacle and we just flat out threw the game away and with the pregame stupidity by Dan Devine, that's the one game I am looking forward to more than any in a long time. Too bad we aren't playing them this Saturday at Death Valley. We would win by 60 points.

I think Clemson counts ticket sales as attendance... so i am a little skeptical of the numbers.
