As this weekend, there were 27 former Clemson players on NFL rosters according to the NFL.com website. The 27 players are on 15 different teams. Seven teams have multiple former Tigers, including the Buffalo Bills, who lead with four former players.

Twenty-four of the 27 players were on the roster of Clemson's 2009 team. Twenty-three of the 27 have played in an NFL game.

Five former Clemson players have been traded or signed free agent contracts in the off season and are on different teams relative to their 2013 roster. Jacoby Ford has gone from the Oakland Raiders to the New York Jets. Chris Clemons, who has played more NFL games than any other active former Clemson player with 72, has gone from the Miami Dolphins to the Houston Texans.

Kavell Conner has gone from the Indianapolis Colts to the San Diego Chargers. Charlie Whitehurst has gone from the San Diego Chargers to the Tennessee Titans. Ricky Sapp has gone from the New York Jets to the Houston Texans.

Members of Clemson's 2013 team will join these players on NFL rosters when the NFL draft is held in May. Many other undrafted players will sign free agent contracts. Six members of the 2012 Clemson team were on NFL teams as rookies in 2013.

It should be noted that Barry Richardson and Phillip Merling, both of whom played in the NFL last year, are free agents and have not signed with a team yet.

TigerNE writes:

What are the chances Jacoby Ford sees the field this coming season? It's a shame that a guy with so much potential has had so little chance to build up to it.

By the way, what's up with James Davis these days? I saw a pic floating in the social media world a few weeks back. Davis and Ford and Spiller at some event. Is he still a squad guy somewhere?

JD has not been in the NFL since 2011, when he was on the practice squads of the Texans and Lions. His last active season was 2010 with the Redskins. I don't what he's doing these days.

As far as Jacoby goes, I think it's a health question. He's shown that if he can avoid the hamstring/foot injuries that have plagued since his first season with the Raiders, he can play the game.
