Andre Ellington had hoped to put on a show for NFL scouts and coaches.
Instead, they got only a glimpse.
Ellington was absent from Tuesday's Senior Bowl South squad workout because of a hamstring injury, and The New York Times' NFL blogger in Mobile reported that he has withdrawn from the all-star game.
Ellington was replaced on the South roster by Miami running back Mike James.
In his Monday workout, scouts were able to evaluate Ellington's pass-catching abilities - an area which he worked on during last off-season. He was considered to be the most explosive running back invited to the Senior Bowl this season.
Ellington is being projected as a second or third-round pick by most draft analysts.
