Nine senior members of the 2012 Clemson football team will be playing in post-season all-star games the next two weekends.
Four Tigers - safety Jonathan Meeks, wide receiver Jaron Brown, tight end Brandon Ford, and punter Spencer Benton - will be playing in the Raycom All-Star Classic on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Montgomery, Ala. Meeks, Brown and Ford will play for the 'Stars' team, while Benton will play for the 'Stripes.'
Other ACC players in the game include North Carolina kicker Casey Barth, Boston College offensive linemen John Wetzel and Emmett Cleary, Georgia Tech defensive lineman T.J. Barnes, and Virginia running back Perry Jones.
The game will kick off at 3 p.m. Eastern Time and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
Also on Saturday, safeties Rashard Hall and Xavier Brewer will be playing in the East-West Shrine Bowl at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Other ACC players in the game include Virginia Tech wide receiver Corey Fuller, UNC wide receiver Eric Highsmith, Boston College tight end Chris Pantale, Georgia Tech defensive lineman Izaan Cross and defensive back Rod Sweeting, N.C. State defensive backs Brandon Bishop and Earl Wolf, FSU defensive lineman Anthony McCloud, and Maryland defensive lineman Joe Vellano.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is set for a 4 p.m. kickoff, and will be televised by the NFL Network.
The following week, Tiger defensive end Malliciah Goodman, center Dalton Freeman and running back Andre Ellington will be in Mobile, Ala. for Senior Bowl week. The event, which is sponsored by the NFL, serves as a scouting opportunity leading up to the NFL Combine in February and the draft in April.
The game will be played at 4 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday, Jan. 26, and will be televised by the NFL Network. Practices will also be televised during the course of the week.
ACC players joining Ellington, Freeman and Goodman in the game include N.C. State quarterback Mike Glennon, FSU kicker Dustin Hopkins and defensive lineman Everette Dawkins, UNC defensive lineman Sylvester Williams and linebacker Kevin Reddick, Virginia offensive lineman Oday Aboushi, and Wake Forest fullback Tommy Bohanan.
