Make it four.

Just beating the January 15 deadline, defensive end Shaq Lawson is joining defensive back Jadar Johnson, tight end Jordan Leggett and defensive end Ebenezer Ogundeko as an early enrollee at Clemson.

Lawson finished up his exams at Hargrave Military last week with the grades he needed to qualify, but has been awaiting NCAA Clearinghouse's approval for admission.

Word finally came on Monday, just in time for Clemson University final day to add or drop classes.

The 6-4, 260-pound Lawson had a standout career in football and basketball at Daniel High in Central, S.C., and was named Independent Mail area player of the year as a senior.

He is expected to compete for playing time at defensive end, along with returning starter Corey Crawford, reserves Vic Beasley, Tavaris Barnes and Kevin Dodd, redshirt freshman Martin Aiken, and Ogundeko.

Lawson finished the fall at Hargrave with 65 tackles and a dozen sacks. As a senior at Daniel, he had 99 tackles, nine sacks and forced five fumbles.

He was ranked as South Carolina's No. 3 player and as the nation's No. 18 defensive end by ESPN.
