Looking ahead, position-by-position: quarterback
No. 1 question: Will Tajh Boyd return. All the signs say yes, but what a difference if he chooses otherwise.
The depth chart: Morgan Roberts has been granted a release and will likely transfer to Yale. Tony McNeal is rehabbing the ACL injury he suffered last spring, and was academically ineligible for the bowl game. That leaves two-year backup Cole Stoudt and precocious freshman Chad Kelly to fight it out for the backup spot next season (or the starting position should Boyd leave for the NFL). Preferred walk-on Nick Schuessler, a former Mississippi State signee who led Grayson High in Loganville, Ga. to a state title as a senior, will also be in the mix this spring, as will veteran walk-on Donny McElveen.
Recruiting prospects: The coaching staff has no plans to sign a quarterback this cycle, and has a longstanding commitment from Deshaun Watson for 2014.

I am not concerned with banking on the verbal commitment of a tenth grader because I am not banking on it. neither are we. No signing a QB in this class has as much to do with Stoudt having 2 more years, Kelly 4 years, McNeal 3 years, McElveen 1 more year at least, Schussler has 4 more years as well. We do not need a QB in this class we need DBs and DEs and RBs, With the QBs on the roster this year we were not getting a top QB anyway. Fill the immediate needs and if the 11th grade changes his mind like Kemdiche has then recruit some others. I think Alabama and ND has proven that if your DL and OL are among the best you do not need the best QB to get to the NC game, You need one that does not lose games for you and is smart enough to manage the game.
