'They sacrifice and they spend time, they stay around and come over here...They do all those things because they want to be the best'

How far has Dabo Swinney brought the Tigers along the recruiting trail in the past four seasons?

"We're beyond the place where anyone is surprised when we sign a great player or a great class," said Swinney.

"We've got a top-15 class coming in to join a very, very talented football team - a group of guys who could have gone anywhere from Southern Cal all the way to Florida and everywhere in between. They all chose Clemson, South Carolina.

"This is a special group to go with a group of players that's already special."

One way that Clemson's current players insure a steady progression of talent is by actively participating in the recruiting process - especially on visit weekends.

"I can't thank our players enough," Swinney said. "Our players are the best. The coaches get way too much credit. The players are the main reason we can recruit at such a high level. They sacrifice and they spend time, they stay around and come over here and host recruits. They do all those things because they want to be the best.

"They also help us eliminate some guys from time to time."

Recruiting coordinator Jeff Scott agrees.

"Our players are probably the best recruiters that we have," said Scott. "If we can get our recruits around our players, then we have a great shot."

Both Swinney and Scott insist that for the most part, Clemson sells itself.

"Clemson is a special place, and all you have to do is just come take a look at it for yourself," said Swinney. "I get that all the time - people will say 'there's just something different about this place.'

"I encourage guys to go see other places and all that, because I have all the confidence in the world in Clemson."

Keep winning and don't be surprised if we get more recruits from as far away as Hawaii.
