DeAndre Hopkins and Dwayne Allen are expected to be back on the field for the beginning of the NFL regular season, but both were held out of action again on Thursday as their teams wrapped up their preseason schedule.
Allen returned to practice this week, but did not play as the Indianapolis Colts lost to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The story was the same for Houston's Hopkins, who earlier in the week had been listed for possible action against Dallas. The Texans report that Hopkins is now at stage-four of five in his recovery from a concussion he suffered two weeks ago against Miami.
Hopkins was in street clothes during pregame warmups prior to the Dallas game.
Houston head coach Gary Kubiak said Hopkins hadn’t passed the last test in the concussion protocol but should be ready for a Sept. 9 season-opener at San Diego.
“He’s fine,” Kubiak said.
