Clemson will kick off its Georgia weekend with the annual First Friday Parade, which will get underway on Friday, Aug.30.
More than 70 campus organizations will take part of in the parade, alongside Clemson president Jim Barker and other honorees. Baseball coach Jack Leggett will serve as grand marshal.
The parade will begin near the president’s home at the intersection of Cherry Road and S.C. 93. It will continue on S.C. 93 and conclude at its intersection with Williamson Road.
Immediately following the parade there will be a pep rally on Riggs Field where the Miss First Friday and the float competition winners will be announced. At the conclusion of the pep rally, the Clemson men’s soccer team will take on Mercer University.
The parade’s theme is “Spirit of the Southland,” which was inspired by the “Tiger Rag” fight song, and will be centered around Clemson’s spirit, tradition and culture.
Central Spirit is coordinating the First Friday Parade. The parade, pep rally and soccer game are free.
