Charlie Whitehurst shines in Chargers' preseason loss to Chicago

Former Clemson quarterback threw touchdown passes of 12 and 2 yards

Charlie Whitehurst completed nine of 13 passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns for the San Diego Chargers in their 33-28 NFL preseason loss to the Chicago Bears.

Whitehurst had TD passes of 12 yards to Ladarius Green and two yards to Mike Willie. He was not interception, but did lose a fumble.

Marcus Gilchrist made one stop for the Chargers.

C.J. Spiller had seven carries for 27 yards in the Buffalo Bills' 20-16 win over Minnesota. Jonathan Meeks had three solo tackles for the Bills.

More preseason games involving Clemson players this weekend include Dallas vs. Arizona, Tennessee vs. Cincinnati, Green Bay vs. St. Louis, Jacksonville vs. New York Jets, and Denver vs. Seattle on Saturday; Indianapolis vs. New York Giants on Sunday; and Pittsburgh vs. Washington on Monday.
