Duke grabs narrow lead over N.C. State, Clemson in Wolfpack Spring Open

Clemson just 5 shots out of the lead heading into final 18 holes on Sunday; Miller Capps shares individual iead

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State sits in second after day one of the Wolfpack Spring Open at Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Saturday. Duke owns a three-shot lead heading into Sunday's final round.

The Blue Devils lead at 2-under 286, followed by the Wolfpack at 1-over 289, and Clemson is third at 3-over 291. All three Atlantic Coast Conference schools will play in the final group tomorrow beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Junior All-American Albin Choi is tied for fifth at 1-under 71 to lead NC State, while senior Mitch Sutton is tied for seventh at even-par 72.

Clemson freshman Miller Capps and Duke's Brinson Paolini lead the field at 5-under 67, while Ryan McCormick of St. John's is a shot back in third after a 4-under 68.

William Herring and Carter Page are tied for 13th at 1-over 73, while Logan Harrell rounds out the Wolfpack starting five. He shot a 75 and is tied for 30th.

Six NC State golfers played as individuals. Andrew Decker and Hunter Howell led that group by shooting even-par rounds of 72.

The 36-hole event wraps up Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.
