Clemson and South Carolina fans enjoy tailgating together before the South Carolina Game

Clemson and South Carolina don't meet on the football field until the end of November.

But someone is getting an early start on the rivalry by painting a Tiger Paw on the field at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.

The paw also was painted on one of the train cars known as "Cockabooses" parked next to the stadium, along with the phrase "Go Tigers."

South Carolina officials say they are investigating the vandalism.

The teams meet in Columbia this year on Nov. 30. South Carolina has won the last four games.

Those paws look nothing like "CLEMSON'S TIGER PAWS". They look more like the paw of Aubie, the Tiger at Auburn!

The USC Trogans are not investigating this. And don't say Carolina either cause I'm sure the folks in chapel hill will have nothing to do with this either. Silly headlines.

If this was a Clemson fan then I'm ashamed. I'm all for pranks even in rivalries but to me vandalism and causing property damage is not a prank, it's juvenile and classless. But who knows I mean after doing a little research I do have to agree with Xander in the fact that it does look more like augurns tiger paw than Clemson. An auburn fan would know that if they put a paw and go tigers on it then fingers would immediately get pointed at clemson. I mean another theory could be this is somebody at the university just trying to cause some trouble and stir people up. Or hey some people may even say its spurrier trying to make us look the way he has proven himself to be. If it turns out to be associated with clemson fans then I do have to say we will have to win this year, you can't be the loser that does that sort of thing and be the loser in the game. That's just a big lose/lose situation.

This will only make the Gamecock players mad and really do us in again in November. Its classless that some of our fans can never enjoy our team and a winning season that they still tend to be obsessed with the SCaR . Its bad when you "HATE" another team more than you "LOVE" your own team.

Radtiger, I don't think this was a Clemson fan that did this. First off, it is a classless thing to do. Secondly, no friendly wants to give the rival bulletin board material to the detriment of the homeboys. Thirdly.....has anyone checked the old ballsacks fingers for paint residue?

How does one get into Williams-Bryce undetected?

I agree with Kimosami, it would be really hard to get into Williams-Bryce, especially after all those Gamecock players broke in years ago and stole equipment.

This is just an ugly act of vandalism... but if they had known how to paint a proper tiger paw it could have been a work of art!
