Back on the PGA Tour after a one-week detour, former Clemson All-American D.J. Trahan shot a second-round 71 and is tied for 15th place at the midway point of the Valero Texas Open at San Antonio, Texas.

Trahan, who has conditional status on the PGA Tour this season, is coming off a strong showing at the Web.com Tour's Chitimacha Louisiana Open, which he entered after not gaining entry to the PGA's Arnold Palmer Invitational.

He turned in a second straight rock-solid round on Friday. Through 36 holes, Trahan has made just two bogeys, with five birdies and 29 pars.

At three-under, he trails leader Billy Horschel by five shots, but is just two strokes out of the top five.

Also making the cut on Friday was Kyle Stanley, who bounced back from an opening 74 with a two-under 70 and now stands even-par.

Jonathan Byrd, who is playing in just his second tournament coming off a six-month absence because of wrist surgery, missed the cut by two shots after recording rounds of 73-74.

In the Web.com Tour's Brasil Championship at Sao Paulo, Brazil, Kevin Johnson is in 31st place after back-to-back 69s. Missing the cut were Ben Martin (69-74), Phillip Mollica (69-77) and Brian Duncan (71-76).
