Tiger men's soccer team takes on No. 1 Maryland tonight at College Park

A year ago, Clemson upset top-ranked Terps 2-1 at Riggs Field

The Clemson Men’s Soccer Team will travel to College Park, MD to take on the No. 1-ranked Maryland Terrapins on Saturday night at 7 pm at Ludwig Field.

Clemson (5-8-3, 2-2-2 ACC) is lead in scoring by senior forward Austin Savage with seven goals and two assists for 16 points. The Tigers are coming off a 1-0 overtime loss last Friday against San Diego State in a rematch of the National Championship game that the Tigers won 2-0, on December 6, 1987.

Maryland (14-0-1, 6-0 ACC) is coming off of a 2-1 win over Lehigh Tuesday night. The Terrapins are lead in scoring by Patrick Mullins who has 10 goals and eight assists for 28 points.

Last year, the Tigers upset number-one ranked Maryland 2-1 at Riggs Field. Phanuel Kavita scored the winning goal with 5:35 left to go in the match to lead the Tigers to victory.

This will be the 53rd meeting between Clemson and Maryland on the soccer field. The Tigers lead the overall series 31-20-1. In matches played at College Park, MD, the Tigers hold a 12-10 advantage.
