Five Clemson defensive players never came of the field against South Carolina, while nine recorded a season high in snaps.

Two of the Tigers' three starting linebackers played all 92 of Clemson's defensive downs - Spencer Shuey and Tig Willard - while the other position was split between Travis Blanks (62) and Quandon Christian (30).

Three players went the distance in the secondary - cornerbacks Gary Peters and Xavier Brewer, and safety Rashard Hall. The Tigers' other starting safety, Jonathan Meeks, played all but one snap.

Also recording a season-high in snaps were defensive tackles Grady Jarrett (62) and Josh Watson (59), and defensive ends Malliciah Goodman (73) and Corey Crawford (67).

Overall, a season-low 37 players saw action from scrimmage - 19 on offense and 18 on defense.

Several players who had been working in regular rotation at their positions played only on special teams, including linebackers Stephone Anthony, Tony Steward and Corico Wright, while some didn't play at all against the Gamecocks, including Rod Byers, Kevin Dodd, Carlos Watkins, Stanton Seckinger, Lateek Townsend and Bradley Pinion.

Remember 2 years ago when we made a recruiting coup with 3 of the "best" LBs in the country. Strange but they are not on the play list.
