The Clemson women's rowing team will host its first regatta of the 2012 season Saturday morning when the Eastern Michigan Eagles come to Lake Hartwell. The Tigers are coming off of a productive 2011 season, where they finished 15th at the NCAA Championships in May.
"Our team has worked incredibly hard this fall and winter to prepare for the spring racing season," said head coach Robbie Tenenbaum. "I see the fire in everyone's eyes, and I am incredibly excited to watch us race against Eastern Michigan Saturday morning."
There will be two races on Saturday morning, beginning with the Varsity and Novice 8s at 9:00 am, followed by the Varsity and Novice 4s and 9:20 am.
"Our novices are going to be racing in their first sprint race and they are excited," Tenenbaum said. "We have a fantastic group of novices this year, and Coach [Jessica] Leidecker is doing a great job getting our new rowers ready to compete at the highest level."
"We are all really excited for another year of racing," said team co-captain and returning All-American Laura D'Urso. "Everyone is a lot more focused than in the past and we all feel like we are ready to go. We have the feeling that this is going to be a special season for Clemson rowing."
