For the second straight year, Clemson has used the platform of one signing day to gain a commitment for its next.
A year ago, offensive lineman Jay Guillermo committed to the Tigers on signing day for Clemson’s 2012 class.
Earlier today, Daniel High outside linebacker D.J. Greenlee did the same, announcing that he’ll join Lions’ teammate Shaq Lawson at Clemson in 2013.
Greenlee, who grew up in Clemson and is the son of Clemson strength coach and former track and field All-American Larry Greenlee, received an offer from the Tiger coaching staff last week during a Junior Day visit.
As a junior, the 6-2, 215-pound Greenlee starred on a defense that recorded five straight shutouts at one point during the season. He had 91 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 4 fumble recoveries as a junior.
Greenlee becomes Clemson’s second commitment for its class of 2013, joining offensive lineman R.J. Prince of Albemarle, NC.
