Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd celebrates with center Dalton Freeman his rushing touchdown during the first quarter at the Chick-Fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.

In Dabo's Words

"I'm just so excited for our team and our program. It's been 31 years since we've won 11 games at Clemson. It's been a steady process. And tonight these guys fought every frickin' play. They fought for every patch of grass. They overcame adversity. They played with a lot of love and toughness, and a desire to win. They played with a commitment that is uncommon.

"I'm just so proud of my football team and my staff. It's just great to be a Clemson Tiger. It's great to win the Chick-fil-A Bowl and hopefully take a top-10 finish back home and get ready for next year."

On his emotions after the last-second victory: "Just to see these seniors to finish the way they did, and to see this team not quit. This is a national championship team.

"We grew up tonight. I've been telling them that we're at the doorway of greatness, but sooner or later you have to step through it. You've got to take action. And tonight they just hung in there and we grew up.

"We had injuries. We were playing with a freshman tackle that hadn't played all year. Sammy Watkins goes out, we turn the ball over. And they just kept playing.

"Fourth and 16 and my frickin' quarterback mans up and makes plays - it's just awesome."

As the sports announcers said, Tajh gave a Heisman worthy performance, not only did our Tigers win but we got to watch one of 2012 best football games in the process.

I'm giving more of my 'luv' to Venables and our D. Yes, Boyd and squad did step up when they had to at the end, but if the D didn't play like they never have since Dabo has been the head coach, it wouldn't have even been close. I mean, 6 sacks beating out that LSU line??? And yes, over 400 yards against a top defense. But without more scoring, it was up to the D to keep it close enough for us to finally pull it out.

and a couple weeks ago everyone said he wasnt nfl ready blah blah he might not be but he played an line full of nfl talent and half the game on the ground and played his butt off. Might have just played his way into the draft i hope not though.

Please son! You don't belong here and you know it. "They won't beat LSU because they aren't ready." Didn't it go something like that? You should be handing out apologies before typing another word!

Did you WATCH the game ?????? We 'bout ran out of O-Line to put on the field.

Yes, Dabo, Venables, Morris and ALL the coaching staff did a great job, but there was a lot of "smoke and mirrors" involved.
Any serious student of the game has to wonder WHY such talents C.J. Spiller and Andre Ellington can't consistently make yardage, ESP between the tackles. Last year's LEFT OT started at Clemson as a walk-on.

Smoke and mirrors can get us so far, but where was the love for Nuk BEFORE the Bowl Game ?? Solid consistency took over and set records. We couldn't seem to find Nuk on the field (or in the media) when Sammy was upright. (priority on smoke & mirrors). How could we blame Nuk if he goes pro ??? At least he won't be playing for that "talent-ignoring" Chan Gailley.
Yes, the O-Line came through- what was left of it. I just long for the day when we START the season with a solid O-Line (which would include strong back-ups)' Then such coaching talent as we have can really work wonders.
We won't be able to recruit serious running back talent if we're not going to support them with a STRONG O-Line.
The Citrus Bowl was a serious recruiting coup, but even the announcers on national TV wondered if we had were going to have enough troops on the line of scrimmage to finish the game. Maybe Defense DOES win championships (or Bowl Games). It was SO good to see Clemson tackling again. Kudos to Venables and the D. And kudos to an over-matched O-Line that fought valiantly.

And we DIDN'T tap out on national TV.

jdl, Grow up. Everyone has a right to post here as long as they don't violate the user agreement (like you so often do).
There is no positive side to predicting failure for the team you are supposed to be supporting. As long as you do, I'll call you on it. You were dead wrong, everyone here knows it, but you still can't admit it. You tell me I need to learn respect after you post messages threatening to do me harm, calling me every name you can get away with on this site, and using racial slurs?
You know, the problem with talking so much s*** is that you always end up stepping in it. Enjoy cleaning your shoes!
