Clemson head coach Jack Leggett and baseball recruiting coordinator Bradley LeCroy are in the process of putting together another homegrown class of impressive talent.
Just like last year, when Clemson signed 12 of 14 players out of South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, the Tigers still-in-progress 2013 recruiting class tilts heavily toward in-state players.
Of the 10 high school seniors who have committed to sign with Clemson in November, six are from South Carolina, including back-yard prospects Glenn Batson and John Parke of Greenville, Tucker Burgess of Easley, Eli White of Wren, and Reed Rohlman of Byrnes.
Clemson's list of commitments also includes two players from North Carolina and one each from Georgia and Florida.
Following is a quick look at the players committed to the Tigers for 2013:
Glenn Batson: A 6-2, 200-pound infielder from Greenville High in Greenville, S.C., Batson batted .480 with 10 homers as a sophomore, but then missed much of his junior season due to a shoulder injury. He's a Perfect Game Underclass Third-Team All-American.
Tucker Burgess: A 6-2, 170-pound righthanded pitcher from Easley, S.C., Burgess worked his way back into form as a junior after undergoing 'Tommy John surgery' on his elbow the previous year. He played this summer on the host team for the Big League World Series in his hometown.
Alex Bostic: A 6-4, 205-pound lefthanded pitcher from Weddington, N.C., Bostic comes out of the South Charlotte Panthers system - a productive recruiting ground for Clemson under recruiting coordinator Bradley LeCroy. He is a 2012 Perfect Game Underclass Third-Team All-American.
Chris Okey: A 6-0, 175-pound catcher from Eustis, Fla., Okey is a Perfect Game Underclass First-Team All-American, and is being projected as a first-round Major League draft pick next June by BigLeagueFutures.net. He played for Team USA U16 and U18 squads in the Pan Am Games.
Austin Meadows: Ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the nation by ESPN, Meadows - from Grayson High in Loganville, Ga. - is a lefthand-batting centerfielder who hit .390 with four homers, 28 RBIs and 19 steals last season. Last summer he led the USA U16 National Team to the IBAF World Youth Championship, where in eight games he had a team-best 22 hits and six steals. He's widely projected as a first-round pick in next summer's Major League Draft.
Drew Moyer: A 6-2, 185-pound righthanded pitcher from Gilbert, S.C., Moyer had a 5-1 record last season and earned all-state honors. He recently switched his commitment from Winthrop to Clemson. He plays for the Diamond Devils traveling team out of Mount Pleasant, S.C.
John Parke: A lefthanded pitcher from Greenville High, Parke is the high school teammate of Batson and 2015 Clemson commitment Grant Cox.
Reed Rohlman: A 6-2, 200-pound lefthand-hitting outfielder from Byrnes High in Duncan, S.C., Rohlman batted .444 as a sophomore and .346 as a junior. He's a 2012 Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention All-American.
Cody Smith: A 6-0, 170-pound infielder/pitcher from Lexington, S.C., Smith is a teammate of Drew Moyer's on the Diamond Devils club team. He is a Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention All-American.
Eli Smith: A 6-3, 175-pound infielder from Wren High in Easley, S.C., Smith is widely rated as one of the state's top prospects for 2013. He batted .330 as a sophomore and .337 as a junior.
Weston Wilson: A 6-3, 190-pound infielder from High Point, N.C., Wilson is a 2012 Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention All-American and a member of Prospect Wire's 'top prospects' team. He chose Clemson over South Carolina and N.C. State.
