Clemson sophomore Ty McCormack was named ACC Men’s Cross Country Performer-of-the-Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. McCormack won the individual title last Friday at the Clemson Invitational against a field that included top-10 ranked Florida State.
McCormack led from the first mile marker through the completion of the 8,000-meter race at Musser Farms, Clemson’s home course. It was the third collegiate victory in his young career. He previously won the Gamecock Invitational and Charlotte Invitational in 2010 as a freshman.
He posted a career-best time over an 8K distance on Friday, crossing the finish line in 23:56.72. His previous personal best was 24:12.5 at last year’s ACC Cross Country Championships in Boston, MA.
