The North Carolina game saw an unusual number of highs and lows in terms of player participation – a product both of a more equitable distribution of snaps among regulars at some positions, and of the coaches being able to clear the bench after going up 59-24 over the Tar Heels.

Snaps at the four defensive line positions were divided relatively equally among eight players.

Kourtnei Brown (25) and Corey Crawford (27) got season highs in snaps at defensive end, while Andre Branch (34) and Malliciah Goodman (34) played season lows.

At the defensive tackle spots, starters Brandon Thompson (32) and Rennie Moore (29) had season lows, while Tyler Shatley got 21 snaps, and freshmen DeShawn Williams (17) and Tavaris Barnes (14) had season highs.

Other players who had season highs in snaps against the Tar Heels were wide receivers Martavis Bryant and Adam Humphries, offensive linemen David Beasley, Kalon Davis, Matt Sanders, Gifford Timothy and Reid Webster; tight end Drew Traylor; fullback Darrell Smith; linebacker Justin Parker; defensive end Vic Beasley; defensive lineman Tra Thomas; and running backs Mike Bellamy and Rod McDowell.

Walk-ons who made their debuts were wide receivers Wes Forbush, Taylor Ogle and Julian Patton; linebacker Steven Demaras; and defensive back Dante Stewart.

In all, a total of 23 players logged season highs in snaps against the Tar Heels.
