Clemson men's soccer goalkeeper Cody Mizell been named to the All-ACC Second Team, as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon. He is Clemson’s first All-ACC player since 2008.
Also receiving ACC honors were Tiger freshmen Brynjar Benediktsson and Amadou Dia, who were both named to the All-ACC Freshman Team. This is the first time that the Tigers have had two players named to the All-ACC Freshman Team.
Mizell, a sophomore who earned Soccer America and Top Drawer Soccer Freshman All-America honors last year, has a 1.28 goals allowed average and has 72 saves this season.
Benediktsson is the Tigers' leading scorer with seven goals and five assists for 19 points. Dia is Clemson's third leading scorer with four goals and one assist for nine points.
The Tigers are awaiting word of a possible NCAA tournament bid to be announced Monday afternoon. The Tigers are 8-8-1 this season and finished with a 4-4 mark in ACC play. The Tigers finished the season with a 4-0-2 record in their last six matches, with victories over No. 14 Boston College and No. 1 Maryland this season.
