Scouting Wake Forest: trouble spots for the Tigers…

PK Jimmy Newman; He broke his own year-old school record by making his 13th straight field goal attempt in the Deacons’ loss to UNC. He was just named as a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award as the nation’s top kicker.

WR Chris Givens: He’s giving Sammy Watkins a run for his money as the ACC’s best pass-catcher – 983 receiving yards in the Deacons’ first nine games. He’s closing in on Ricky Proehl’s single season school yardage record, and has six 100-yard games this season.

CB Merrill Noel: He leads the nation with 16 passes defended – one interception and 15 PBUs.

WR Michael Campanaro: In addition to complementing Chris Givens as a pass catcher, he’s thrown two touchdown passes off reverses. He was the Deacons’ leading receiver against Notre Dame, with six catches for 74 yards.

WR Terence Davis: Another in Wake’s capable stable of wide receivers, he has three touchdown catches this year, including two against Florida State.

LB Kyle Wilber: He had a sack in four straight games before being held without one against North Carolina. He has four blocked kicks in his career.

QB Tanner Price: His solid play at quarterback has given the Deacons’ offense a chance – 149-of-273 for 2,154 yards and 15 touchdowns so far this season.

NG Nikita Whitlock: He’s had at least one tackle for loss in five straight games, including three against North Carolina.

RBs Josh Harris and Brandon Pendergrass: They give the Deacons a capable 1-2 backfield punch, as they combined for more than 800 yards in Wake’s first nine games.
