Clemson's Dabo Swinney and Georgia Tech's Paul Johnson were among ACC and SEC coaches who participated in the 2011 Chick-fil-A Challenge.

Georgia Tech's spring was filled with questions on both sides of the ball, and not all were answered...

Reviewing Key Spring Issues: 1) Replacing Anthony Allen at B-back – Johnson said the Yellow Jackets could be rotating players at the B-back spot after having stalwarts like Jonathan Dwyer and Anthony Allen start there in recent years. Richard Watson and Preston Lyons had the best days in the spring game with with 48 rushing yards on 6 carries for Watson - 11 rushes for 50 yards for Lyons.

2) Washington becoming the man – By all accounts, including the most important one of his coach, Tevin Washington had a strong spring, but in the showcase of the spring, T-Day (GT's spring game), he was a modest 10/26 for 134 yards passing - 34 yards rushing with three interceptions and two fumbles for the White. It didn't help either that redshirt freshman QB Synjyn Days had a banner day in the Gold's 21-7 win.

3) Restocking the secondary - Hard to get a read on the Yellow Jackets' secondary going against the offense they face in spring practice, but Georgia Tech's T-Day did feature three interceptions from the Yellow Jackets' defensive backs Isaiah Johnson (sophomore, one career interception), Rashaad Reid (senior, three career interceptions) and Lance Richardson (RS sophomore).

Spring MVP: LB Quayshawn Nealy (RS freshman, 6-2 220)

Breakout Offensive Player: QB Synjyn Days (RS freshman, 6-1 205)

Breakout Defensive Player: LB Quayshawn Nealy

Key Injuries: None.

Spring Game Notes: 1) Days' big day bringing QB controversy? - Redshirt freshman Synjyn Days showcased his abilities on the ground in the Georgia Tech spring game with 156 total yards and 2 TDs. Before the game, Johnson said Washington had a "significant edge" on the job going into the fall so we'll see if Days' big game has any affect.

2) Nealy continues redshirt freshman success - How about this day for LB Quayshawn Nealy? Eight tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery and a couple passes broken up - not bad for a guy who was in his most significant game in over a year after a redshirt season.

3) Kicking game needs work - After the consistency of Scott Blair for the last three seasons (9/11 on FGs in career against Clemson), Georgia Tech is looking for a replacement - and they didn't find it at the spring game. Nobody made a field goal on the day including misses from 28, 47 and 49-yards.

Quotable:: Johnson on finding the next Jonathan Dwyer, Anthony Allen (B-back): "That's going well. That could probably be the deepest position on our team. We've got four guys who we feel can step in and play that position. You know, coming out of spring, probably Preston Lyons and the young redshirt freshman Charles Perkins are at the top."
