ACC Sunday Hoops: Boston College wins at College Park, Hokies bounce back

Eagles Topple Maryland, 79-75, for Fifth Straight Win: Biko Paris scored a career-high 22 points, Corey Raji drilled the tiebreaking 3-pointer with 33.7 seconds left, and Boston College defeated Maryland 79-75 Sunday in the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for both teams at College Park. MD.

Reggie Jackson scored 16 for the Eagles (8-2, 1-0) in the ACC debut of first-year coach Steve Donahue. Boston College made 13 3-pointers in extending its winning streak to five games.

Jordan Williams had a career-high 27 points and 13 rebounds for Maryland (7-4, 0-1). The Terrapins, who came in with a 15-game home winning streak, failed to score over the final 2:40.

The back-and-forth game featured 16 lead changes and 11 ties.

Thomas Leads 'Canes Past Stetson: Adrian Thomas scored 13 points and Malcolm Grant added 11 to lead a balanced attack for the Miami Hurricanes in a 68-54 win over Stetson on Sunday.

Durand Scott chipped in nine points for Miami(7-2), which has won five straight and improved to 6-0 at home this season with the victory.

Miami went on a 17-3 run in a seven-minute span in the first half to take a 25-14 lead and never looked back. During the pivotal run, Thomas scored eight points including a pair of 3-pointers.

Thomas finished with three threes to climb into UM's top 10 in career three-pointers, tying Kevin Norris (1994-98) with 134.He needs just two to move into a tie for ninth place with current assistant coach Jake Morton (1988-93).

Hokies snap skid with victory over Penn State: Starting in place of an injured Dorenzo Hudson, Erick Green tied his career high with 15 points as the Hokies snapped a three-game losing streak with a 79-69 non-conference victory over Penn State at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Tech moved to 5-4 overall on the season. Penn State fell to 7-3.

After a week off, the Hokies looked crisp, particularly on offense, as they shot a season-high 54.5 percent from the floor. Tech also dished out 20 assists, just one short of its season high, and finished with four players in double figures, paced by Malcolm Delaney's 18 points.

"We shared the ball and made the extra pass," Tech coach Seth Greenberg said. "We got the ball out in transition a little bit and we made shots."

Hot-Shooting UNC Wilmington Sends Wake Forest to 81-69 Loss: UNC Wilmington shot 51 percent from the field, including a 14-for-26 mark from 3-point range, to send Wake Forest to a 81-69 loss Sunday afternoon at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The Demon Deacons saw their three-game winning streak come to an end as they drop to 5-4 on the year. The Seahawks evened their record at 4-4 after posting their first-ever win in 13 all-time games against Wake Forest.

UNCW's 14 three-point field goals were the most for a Wake Forest opponent since 2007, when Air Force also connected on 14 shots from behind the arc.

Senior Gary Clark continued his hot shooting, leading the team with 20 points, including going 4-of-6 from three point range. Clark also pulled down a career-high six rebounds.

Ari Stewart and C.J. Harris also scored in double-figures for the Demon Deacons, with Stewart notching 15 points and eight rebounds and Harris recording 12 points and six assists
